Portraits Of Two Lives

I see a man who was lonely and blue
But that’s not me anymore
I see a heart that was torn in two
But that’s not me anymore.

I see a girl, lost and afraid
But that’s not you anymore
I see a heart that was tattered and frayed
But that’s not you anymore.

I see a cross standing on a hill
In the back of my mind, I can see it still
There a battered Man hung in agony
While He was dying, He reached for you and me.

I see a tomb that is empty now
The body is not there – it’s gone, but how?
I see a Man with a wound in His side
When I saw His pierced hands and feet, I cried.

I see two lives, empty and scarred
But that’s not us anymore -
We’ve seen Jesus Christ, our Lord
He has brightened these two portraits forevermore.

Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature:
old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
