O Taste and See That The Lord is Good

"O taste and see that the LORD is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him." Ps. 34:8

Have you tasted that the Lord is good in your life? Have you experienced His goodness? As young believers, it's important to be taught that God shows His goodness in many ways.

The Lord show His goodness through blessings in our lives, impossible situations that He has worked out, or the salvation of one of our family members. These are all wonderful but they are also "in your face" displays of His goodness.

The Lord also takes time to show us His goodness in places we have to search to find. What do I mean? Just take a look around you. I've noticed that people who have a naturally grateful heart have an easier time to see His goodness in their lives. Others who have allowed the cares of this world to create in them a bitter heart overlook His precious blessings.

Let's search for some of the Lord's blessings this morning. I'm located in Virginia where Spring is in its first stages. The cherry blossoms are at their peak today. Hello, Father! There You are! As I was letting the dog out this morning, I heard the robins and the cardinals singing. Hello, Father! There You are! When I got up out of bed and took my first steps, my knees did not hurt. Hello, Father! There You are! As Adam and I did our devotions in the Pilgrim's Progress devotional, I looked over at him and my heart swelled with love. Thank You, Father! After devotions, I was sipping my cup of coffee and could see several squirrels in the yard playing - scurrying up and down the trees, rolling and tumbling over each other in the grass, then scurrying back up the trees. Hello, Father! There You are!

One does not need to look far to see God's blessings. To be able to see those blessings depends on how grateful you have allowed your heart to become as His child. Yes, I mean to say "allowed." If you don't see the blessings in the examples I have shared with you, then you have permitted the devil to steal them from you and create in you a hardened and ungrateful heart. However, if you are excited about those same blessings I've shared, you have permitted the Holy Spirit to give you insight into God's goodness and how He reveals that goodness to us.

Which one are you today? Are you one that sees a sink full of dirty dishes and you resent the fact that no one else in your household helps you? Or, are you one that is thankful that you have someone in your home to "create" that sink full of dirty dishes? Do you complain at the mountain of laundry you have to do? Or are you grateful there is laundry to be done because that means your loved ones are still with you?

Lastly, look at the last half of our verse for today. "...blessed is the man that trusteth in him." God's says that we will be blessed if we put our trust in Him! You, ladies, are my sisters in Christ. We have a relationship that goes beyond understanding! Here some of us have never met but we share a common bond - we have all been born again into the Body of Christ! This same Christ, Who was able to rise from the dead, is able to care for each problem in our lives. This same Christ, Who created everything, according to Col. 1:16, is able to care for each problem in our lives. This same Christ, Who has gone to prepare a place for us, is able to care for each problem in our lives!

Now that we have "exercised" our hearts to be grateful, do you feel as though you can conquer anything today with Christ by your side and His Holy Spirit guiding you? Can you reverse what you have done to produce your ungrateful heart? Absolutely! Exercise it by looking for the blessings in your life - search out God's goodness in all this around you - search out His goodness in your trials and daily problems. It is like exercising a muscle - the more you exercise it, the stronger it will get!

"O taste and see that the LORD is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him." Ps. 34:8
