What to Read When You...
Need Assurance:
John 10:27-29
My
sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:
John 3:36
He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting
life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God
abideth on him.
John 5:24 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth
my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not
come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.
1 John 5:1 Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is
born of God: and every one that loveth him that begat loveth him also that is
begotten of him. 1 John 5:10 He that believeth on the Son of God hath the
witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he
believeth not the record that God gave of his Son. 11 And this is the record,
that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. 12 He that
hath the Son hath life; [and] he that hath not the Son of God hath not life. 13
These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God;
that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name
of the Son of God.
Romans 8:16 The Spirit itself beareth witness with our
spirit, that we are the children of God:
1 John 3:14 We know that we have passed from death unto
life, because we love the brethren. He that loveth not [his] brother abideth in
death.

Bible Study:
2 Tim. 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a
workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
Col. 3:16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all
wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual
songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.
Acts 17:11 These were more noble than those in
Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and
searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.
John 5:39 Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye
have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.
1 Pet. 2:2 As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the
word, that ye may grow thereby:

God is Able:
John 10:28-29 And I give unto them eternal life; and
they shall never perish, neither shall any [man] pluck them out of my hand. 29
My Father, which gave [them] me, is greater than all; and no [man] is able to
pluck [them] out of my Father's hand.
Acts 20:32 And now, brethren, I commend you to God, and
to the word of his grace, which is able to build you up, and to give you an
inheritance among all them which are sanctified.
Matthew 20:22 But Jesus answered and said, Ye know not
what ye ask. Are ye able to drink of the cup that I shall drink of, and to be
baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with? They say unto him, We are
able.
Romans 4:19-21 And being not weak in faith, he
considered not his own body now dead, when he was about an hundred years old,
neither yet the deadness of Sara's womb: 20 He staggered not at the promise of
God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God; 21 And being
fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform.
1 Corinthians 10:13 There hath no temptation taken you
but such as is common to man: but God [is] faithful, who will not suffer you to
be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way
to escape, that ye may be able to bear [it].
2 Corinthians 9:8 And God [is] able to make all grace
abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all [things], may
abound to every good work:
Ephesians 3:20 Now unto him that is able to do exceeding
abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh
in us, 21 Unto him [be] glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages,
world without end. Amen.

Your Prayer Life Is Wrong:
Matt. 6:7 But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as
the heathen [do]: for they think that they shall be heard for their much
speaking. 8 Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what
things ye have need of, before ye ask him.
James 4:3 Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss,
that ye may consume [it] upon your lusts.
James
5:16 Confess [your] faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may
be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much. 17
Elias was a man subject to like passions as we are, and he prayed earnestly that
it might not rain: and it rained not on the earth by the space of three years
and six months. 18 And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth
brought forth her fruit.
John 14:13 And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that
will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.
Romans 8:26 Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our
infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit
itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. 27 And
he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what [is] the mind of the Spirit, because
he maketh intercession for the saints according to [the will of] God.
John 15:7 If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye
shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.

Weaknesses in Life:
John 8:31 Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on
him, If ye continue in my word, [then] are ye my disciples indeed;
Eph. 4:29 Let no corrupt communication proceed out of
your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister
grace unto the hearers. 30 And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are
sealed unto the day of redemption. 31 Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger,
and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice: 32 And be
ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for
Christ's sake hath forgiven you.
James 1:1 James, a servant of God and of the Lord Jesus
Christ, to the twelve tribes which are scattered abroad, greeting. 2 My
brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations; 3 Knowing
[this], that the trying of your faith worketh patience. 4 But let patience have
[her] perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing. 5 If any
of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all [men] liberally, and
upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. 6 But let him ask in faith, nothing
wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind
and tossed. 7 For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the
Lord. 8 A double minded man [is] unstable in all his ways. 9 Let the brother of
low degree rejoice in that he is exalted: 10 But the rich, in that he is made
low: because as the flower of the grass he shall pass away. 11 For the sun is no
sooner risen with a burning heat, but it withereth the grass, and the flower
thereof falleth, and the grace of the fashion of it perisheth: so also shall the
rich man fade away in his ways. 12 Blessed [is] the man that endureth
temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the
Lord hath promised to them that love him. 13 Let no man say when he is tempted,
I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he
any man: 14 But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and
enticed. 15 Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when
it is finished, bringeth forth death. 16 Do not err, my beloved brethren. 17
Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the
Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning. 18 Of
his own will begat he us with the word of truth, that we should be a kind of
firstfruits of his creatures. 19 Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man
be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath: 20 For the wrath of man worketh
not the righteousness of God. 21 Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and
superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which
is able to save your souls. 22 But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers
only, deceiving your own selves. 23 For if any be a hearer of the word, and not
a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass: 24 For he
beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of
man he was. 25 But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth
[therein], he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man
shall be blessed in his deed. 26 If any man among you seem to be religious, and
bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man's religion [is]
vain. 27 Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit
the fatherless and widows in their affliction, [and] to keep himself unspotted
from the world.
James 2:1 My brethren, have not the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ, [the Lord] of
glory, with respect of persons. 2 For if there come unto your assembly a man
with a gold ring, in goodly apparel, and there come in also a poor man in vile
raiment; 3 And ye have respect to him that weareth the gay clothing, and say
unto him, Sit thou here in a good place; and say to the poor, Stand thou there,
or sit here under my footstool: 4 Are ye not then partial in yourselves, and are
become judges of evil thoughts? 5 Hearken, my beloved brethren, Hath not God
chosen the poor of this world rich in faith, and heirs of the kingdom which he
hath promised to them that love him? 6 But ye have despised the poor. Do not
rich men oppress you, and draw you before the judgment seats? 7 Do not they
blaspheme that worthy name by the which ye are called? 8 If ye fulfil the royal
law according to the scripture, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself, ye do
well: 9 But if ye have respect to persons, ye commit sin, and are convinced of
the law as transgressors. 10 For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet
offend in one [point], he is guilty of all. 11 For he that said, Do not commit
adultery, said also, Do not kill. Now if thou commit no adultery, yet if thou
kill, thou art become a transgressor of the law. 12 So speak ye, and so do, as
they that shall be judged by the law of liberty. 13 For he shall have judgment
without mercy, that hath shewed no mercy; and mercy rejoiceth against judgment.
14 What [doth it] profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have
not works? can faith save him? 15 If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute
of daily food, 16 And one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be [ye] warmed
and filled; notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to
the body; what [doth it] profit? 17 Even so faith, if it hath not works, is
dead, being alone. 18 Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works:
shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works.
19 Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also
believe, and tremble. 20 But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without
works is dead? 21 Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had
offered Isaac his son upon the altar? 22 Seest thou how faith wrought with his
works, and by works was faith made perfect? 23 And the scripture was fulfilled
which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for
righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God. 24 Ye see then how that by
works a man is justified, and not by faith only. 25 Likewise also was not Rahab
the harlot justified by works, when she had received the messengers, and had
sent [them] out another way? 26 For as the body without the spirit is dead, so
faith without works is dead also.
James 3:1 My brethren, be not many masters, knowing that we shall receive the greater
condemnation. 2 For in many things we offend all. If any man offend not in word,
the same [is] a perfect man, [and] able also to bridle the whole body. 3 Behold,
we put bits in the horses' mouths, that they may obey us; and we turn about
their whole body. 4 Behold also the ships, which though [they be] so great, and
[are] driven of fierce winds, yet are they turned about with a very small helm,
whithersoever the governor listeth. 5 Even so the tongue is a little member, and
boasteth great things. Behold, how great a matter a little fire kindleth! 6 And
the tongue [is] a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members,
that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and
it is set on fire of hell. 7 For every kind of beasts, and of birds, and of
serpents, and of things in the sea, is tamed, and hath been tamed of mankind: 8
But the tongue can no man tame; [it is] an unruly evil, full of deadly poison. 9
Therewith bless we God, even the Father; and therewith curse we men, which are
made after the similitude of God. 10 Out of the same mouth proceedeth blessing
and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not so to be. 11 Doth a fountain
send forth at the same place sweet [water] and bitter? 12 Can the fig tree, my
brethren, bear olive berries? either a vine, figs? so [can] no fountain both
yield salt water and fresh. 13 Who [is] a wise man and endued with knowledge
among you? let him shew out of a good conversation his works with meekness of
wisdom. 14 But if ye have bitter envying and strife in your hearts, glory not,
and lie not against the truth. 15 This wisdom descendeth not from above, but
[is] earthly, sensual, devilish. 16 For where envying and strife [is], there
[is] confusion and every evil work. 17 But the wisdom that is from above is
first pure, then peaceable, gentle, [and] easy to be intreated, full of mercy
and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy. 18 And the fruit of
righteousness is sown in peace of them that make peace.
James 4:1 From whence [come] wars and fightings among you? [come they] not hence,
[even] of your lusts that war in your members? 2 Ye lust, and have not: ye kill,
and desire to have, and cannot obtain: ye fight and war, yet ye have not,
because ye ask not. 3 Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may
consume [it] upon your lusts. 4 Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that
the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a
friend of the world is the enemy of God. 5 Do ye think that the scripture saith
in vain, The spirit that dwelleth in us lusteth to envy? 6 But he giveth more
grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the
humble. 7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee
from you. 8 Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse [your]
hands, [ye] sinners; and purify [your] hearts, [ye] double minded. 9 Be
afflicted, and mourn, and weep: let your laughter be turned to mourning, and
[your] joy to heaviness. 10 Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he
shall lift you up. 11 Speak not evil one of another, brethren. He that speaketh
evil of [his] brother, and judgeth his brother, speaketh evil of the law, and
judgeth the law: but if thou judge the law, thou art not a doer of the law, but
a judge. 12 There is one lawgiver, who is able to save and to destroy: who art
thou that judgest another? 13 Go to now, ye that say, To day or to morrow we
will go into such a city, and continue there a year, and buy and sell, and get
gain: 14 Whereas ye know not what [shall be] on the morrow. For what [is] your
life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth
away. 15 For that ye [ought] to say, If the Lord will, we shall live, and do
this, or that. 16 But now ye rejoice in your boastings: all such rejoicing is
evil. 17 Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth [it] not, to him it
is sin.
James 5:1 Go to now, [ye] rich men, weep and howl for your miseries that shall come
upon [you]. 2 Your riches are corrupted, and your garments are
moth eaten. 3 Your
gold and silver is cankered; and the rust of them shall be a witness against
you, and shall eat your flesh as it were fire. Ye have heaped treasure together
for the last days. 4 Behold, the hire of the labourers who have reaped down your
fields, which is of you kept back by fraud, crieth: and the cries of them which
have reaped are entered into the ears of the Lord of sabaoth. 5 Ye have lived in
pleasure on the earth, and been wanton; ye have nourished your hearts, as in a
day of slaughter. 6 Ye have condemned [and] killed the just; [and] he doth not
resist you. 7 Be patient therefore, brethren, unto the coming of the Lord.
Behold, the husbandman waiteth for the precious fruit of the earth, and hath
long patience for it, until he receive the early and latter rain. 8 Be ye also
patient; stablish your hearts: for the coming of the Lord draweth nigh. 9 Grudge
not one against another, brethren, lest ye be condemned: behold, the judge
standeth before the door. 10 Take, my brethren, the prophets, who have spoken in
the name of the Lord, for an example of suffering affliction, and of patience.
11 Behold, we count them happy which endure. Ye have heard of the patience of
Job, and have seen the end of the Lord; that the Lord is very pitiful, and of
tender mercy. 12 But above all things, my brethren, swear not, neither by
heaven, neither by the earth, neither by any other oath: but let your yea be
yea; and [your] nay, nay; lest ye fall into condemnation. 13 Is any among you
afflicted? let him pray. Is any merry? let him sing psalms. 14 Is any sick among
you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him,
anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord: 15 And the prayer of faith shall
save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins,
they shall be forgiven him. 16 Confess [your] faults one to another, and pray
one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a
righteous man availeth much. 17 Elias was a man subject to like passions as we
are, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain: and it rained not on the
earth by the space of three years and six months. 18 And he prayed again, and
the heaven gave rain, and the earth brought forth her fruit. 19 Brethren, if any
of you do err from the truth, and one convert him; 20 Let him know, that he
which converteth the sinner from the error of his way shall save a soul from
death, and shall hide a multitude of sins.
Romans 12:1
I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the
mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable
unto God, [which is] your reasonable service. 2 And be not conformed to this
world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove
what [is] that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. 3 For I say,
through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think
[of himself] more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according
as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith. 4 For as we have many
members in one body, and all members have not the same office: 5 So we, [being]
many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another. 6 Having
then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, whether
prophecy, [let us prophesy] according to the proportion of faith; 7 Or ministry,
[let us wait] on [our] ministering: or he that teacheth, on teaching; 8 Or he
that exhorteth, on exhortation: he that giveth, [let him do it] with simplicity;
he that ruleth, with diligence; he that sheweth mercy, with cheerfulness. 9
[Let] love be without dissimulation. Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that
which is good. 10 [Be] kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in
honour preferring one another; 11 Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit;
serving the Lord; 12 Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing
instant in prayer; 13 Distributing to the necessity of saints; given to
hospitality. 14 Bless them which persecute you: bless, and curse not. 15 Rejoice
with them that do rejoice, and weep with them that weep. 16 [Be] of the same
mind one toward another. Mind not high things, but condescend to men of low
estate. Be not wise in your own conceits. 17 Recompense to no man evil for evil.
Provide things honest in the sight of all men. 18 If it be possible, as much as
lieth in you, live peaceably with all men. 19 Dearly beloved, avenge not
yourselves, but [rather] give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance
[is] mine; I will repay, saith the Lord. 20 Therefore if thine enemy hunger,
feed him; if he thirst, give him drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of
fire on his head. 21 Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.

Spiritual Growth:
1 Thess. 3:12
And the Lord make you to increase and
abound in love one toward another, and toward all [men], even as we [do] toward
you: 2 Pet. 1:5
And beside this, giving all diligence, add to
your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; 6 And to knowledge temperance; and
to temperance patience; and to patience godliness;
Heb. 6:1
Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of
Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of
repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God,
2 Pet. 3:18; But grow in grace, and [in] the knowledge of
our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him [be] glory both now and for ever.
Amen.

Stewardship:
1 Cor. 16:2 Upon the first [day] of the week let every one
of you lay by him in store, as [God] hath prospered him, that there be no
gatherings when I come.
2 Cor. 8:7 Therefore, as ye abound in every [thing, in]
faith, and utterance, and knowledge, and [in] all diligence, and [in] your love
to us, [see] that ye abound in this grace also.
Mal. 3:8 Will a man rob God? Yet ye have robbed me. But ye
say, Wherein have we robbed thee? In tithes and offerings. 9 Ye [are] cursed
with a curse: for ye have robbed me, [even] this whole nation. 10 Bring ye all
the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove
me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of
heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that [there shall] not [be room] enough [to
receive it].
Matthew 6:33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his
righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
Matthew 23:23 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees,
hypocrites! for ye pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have omitted the
weightier [matters] of the law, judgment, mercy, and faith: these ought ye to
have done, and not to leave the other undone

Need A Friend:
Proverbs 6:1 My son, if thou be surety for thy friend,
[if] thou hast stricken thy hand with a stranger, 2 Thou art snared with the
words of thy mouth, thou art taken with the words of thy mouth.
2 Chronicles 20:7
[Art] not thou our God, [who]
didst drive out the inhabitants of this land before thy people Israel, and
gavest it to the seed of Abraham thy friend for ever?
Proverbs 18:24 A man [that hath] friends must shew
himself friendly: and there is a friend [that] sticketh closer than a brother.
Exodus 33:9-11 And it came to pass, as Moses entered
into the tabernacle, the cloudy pillar descended, and stood [at] the door of the
tabernacle, and [the LORD] talked with Moses. 10 And all the people saw the
cloudy pillar stand [at] the tabernacle door: and all the people rose up and
worshipped, every man [in] his tent door. 11 And the LORD spake unto Moses face
to face, as a man speaketh unto his friend. And he turned again into the camp:
but his servant Joshua, the son of Nun, a young man, departed not out of the
tabernacle.
Luke 11:5-8
And he said unto them, Which of you shall
have a friend, and shall go unto him at midnight, and say unto him, Friend, lend
me three loaves; 6 For a friend of mine in his journey is come to me, and I have
nothing to set before him? 7 And he from within shall answer and say, Trouble me
not: the door is now shut, and my children are with me in bed; I cannot rise and
give thee. 8 I say unto you, Though he will not rise and give him, because he is
his friend, yet because of his importunity he will rise and give him as many as
he needeth.
Proverbs 17:17 A friend loveth at all times, and a brother is born for
adversity.
