This page is dedicated to my Mother in law

The above picture was taken upon her graduation as a
Registered Nursing Assistant.
Call it what you
will: Graduation or Promotion, but my Mother in law, Carol Anne
Trenholm left her cancer ridden robe of flesh behind August 26,
2004, and was promoted to glory to be with the Saviour, the Lord
Jesus Christ. This has been a difficult time for the family, but
yet a great relief that her suffering is done and she can rejoice
in the presence of the Lord, her babies that she lost (and one of
ours), as well as in the presence of the other saints.
Sweet
hour of prayer! sweet hour of prayer!
May I thy consolation share,
Till, from Mount Pisgah’s lofty height,
I view my home and take my flight:
This robe of flesh I’ll drop and rise
To seize the everlasting prize;
And shout, while passing through the air,
“Farewell, farewell, sweet hour of prayer!”
(Last stanza, "Sweet Hour of
Prayer" by William Walford)
Precious in the sight of the LORD
is the death of his saints.
Psalm 116:15
But I would not have you to be
ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye
sorrow not, even as others which have no hope.
1Thessalonians 4:13
Carol knew her
place in Heaven was secure, not because of her own goodness, but
because she accepted what Jesus did on the cross of Calvary,
paying for her sins. If any of you do not know your sins are paid
for and have not accepted Christ as Saviour, please visit

to read God's
Simple Plan of Salvation and gain the "peace that passeth all
understanding" that only the Lord can give, knowing your sins are
forgiven and your place in Heaven is secured.
For we know that if our earthly house of this
tabernacle were dissolved,
we have a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in
the heavens.
2 Corinthians 5:1
Yea, the sparrow hath found an house, and the swallow a nest for herself,
where she may lay her young, even Thine altars, O LORD of hosts, my King, and my God.
Psalm 84:3
The eternal God is thy refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms.
Deuteronomy 33:27a

To My Most Beloved Family and Friends
A Love Letter from Carol
Thank you for all of your love
and support during these trying times. I especially want to
thank my Saviour Jesus Christ for His grace and strength to
endure with dignity my battle with cancer.
I also want to share with those
of you who are left behind, that I have a sure hope of living
with my Creator and God forever. John 3:16 says: For God so loved
the world, that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever
believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. I
joyfully testify to this congregation today that I have believed
in the Son and that He has granted me everlasting life.
I want to leave you all with a
Psalm that has comforted me these past weeks more than any other.
He who dwells in the secret
place of the Most High will abide under the shadow of the
Almighty. I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my
fortress, my God; in Him will I trust. Surely He will deliver you
from the snare of the fouler, and from the noisome pestilence.
His truth will be your shield and buckler. For He will give His
angels charge over you, to keep you in all your ways. They will
bear you up in their hands, lest you dash your foot against a
stone.
Psalm 91:1-4 and 11-12
I love you all and hope all of
my loved ones will believe in Jesus as Saviour of your soul so
that we may be wondrously reunited one day again.
With all my love,

Several years ago, Carol asked me to type out these sayings
(along with corresponding verses, and in one case, a song). I'd
forgotten about them, but a friend had them in his files, and
just recently brought them to my attention, thinking it would be
another good way to honor my Mother-In-Law. I think so too. The
full doctrine of the individuals quoted does not necessarily
reflect my MIL's position, but these are sayings she loved. Where
no credit is given, the author is unknown to me, but as far as I
can tell, most come from the publication: Our Daily Bread by
Radio Bible Class.

The kindest friend I’ve ever had,
Is one I cannot see,
Yet one in whom I can confide,
Who loves and blesses me.
(Unknown)
Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us,
that we should be called the sons of God:
therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not.
1John 3:1
Hereby perceive we the love of God,
because he laid down his life
for us:
and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.
1John 3:16
*********
There are limits to man’s love,
But not to God’s.
But God commendeth his love toward us,
in that, while we were yet
sinners,
Christ died for us.
Romans 5:8
The Lord is not slack concerning his promise,
as some men count
slackness;
but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any
should perish,
but that all should come to repentance.
2Peter 3:9
*********
Where God’s finger points,
His hand will make the way.
Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.
Psalm
119:105
*********
The Christian’s heart is the Holy Spirit’s home.
Know ye not that ye are the temple of God,
and that the Spirit of
God dwelleth in you?
1Corinthians 3:16
*********
Christ is the only way to heaven;
Other paths are detours to doom.
Jesus saith unto him,
I am the way,
the truth,
and the life:
no
man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
John 14:6
*********
What we call adversity,
God calls opportunity.
There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man:
but God is faithful,
who will not suffer you to be tempted above
that ye are able;
but will with the temptation also make a way to
escape,
that ye may be able to bear it.
1Corinthians 10:13
But he knoweth the way that I take:
when he hath tried me,
I
shall come forth as gold.
Job 23:10
*********
By Christ, the sinless Lamb of God,
The precious blood was shed,
When He fulfilled God’s Holy Word,
And suffered in our stead.
Hereby perceive we the love of God,
because he laid down his life
for us:
and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.
1John 3:16
But God commendeth his love toward us,
in that, while we were yet
sinners,
Christ died for us.
Romans 5:8

I do not ask for treasures here,
To hoard, decay or rust,
but for the better things in life –
Humility and trust.
(Meadows)
But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven,
where neither moth
nor rust doth corrupt,
and where thieves do not break through nor
steal:
Matthew 6:20
Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also
in me.
In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so,
I would have told you.
I go to prepare a place for you.
And if I
go and prepare a place for you,
I will come again, and receive
you unto myself;
that where I am, there ye may be also.
John
14:1-3

God doesn’t ask you to be the best,
only to do your best.
Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do,
do all
to the glory of God.
1Corinthinas 10:31
And whatsoever ye do in word or deed,
do all in the name of the
Lord Jesus,
giving thanks to God and the Father by him.
Colossians 3:17
And whatsoever ye do,
do it heartily,
as to the Lord, and not
unto men;
Colossians 3:23
*********
The Christian must live in the world,
But he must not let the world live in him.
If ye were of the world, the world would love his own:
but
because ye are not of the world,
but I have chosen you out of the
world,
therefore the world hateth you.
John 15:19
*********
Life is uncertain,
Death is sure;
Sin the cause,
Christ the cure.
And as it is appointed unto men once to die,
but after this the
judgment:
Hebrews 9:27
For the wages of sin is death;
but the gift of God is eternal
life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Romans 6:23
But God commendeth his love toward us,
in that, while we were yet
sinners,
Christ died for us.
Romans 5:8
*********
Those who walk with God can find their way
when the path is dark.
(MacLaren)
Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the
ungodly,
nor standeth in the way of sinners,
or sitteth in the
seat of the scornful.
But his delight is in the law of the LORD;
and in his law doth he meditate day and night.
And he shall be
like a tree planted by the rivers of water,
that bringeth forth
his fruit in his season;
his leaf also shall not wither;
and
whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.
Psalm 1:1-3
*********
God’s armor is tailor made,
but we must put it on.
Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of
his might.
Put on the whole armour of God,
that ye may be able to
stand against the wiles of the devil.
For we wrestle not against
flesh and blood,
but against principalities, against powers,
against the rulers of the darkness of this world,
against
spiritual wickedness in high places.
Wherefore take unto you the
whole armour of God,
that ye may be able to withstand in the evil
day, and having done all, to stand.
Stand therefore, having your
loins girt about with truth,
and having on the breastplate of
righteousness;
And your feet shod with the preparation of the
gospel of peace;
Above all, taking the shield of faith,
wherewith
ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
And
take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit,
which
is the word of God:
Praying always with all prayer and
supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all
perseverance and supplication for all saints;
And for me, that
utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly,
to make known the mystery of the gospel, For which I am an
ambassador in bonds: that therein I may speak boldly, as I ought
to speak.
Ephesians 6:10-20

Satan’s ploys are no match
for the Savior’s power.
And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying,
All power is given
unto me in heaven and in earth...
Matthew 28:18.
And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire
and brimstone,
where the beast and the false prophet are,
and
shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.
Revelation
20:10
*********
When God is all you’ve got,
you’ve got more than enough.
But my God shall supply all your need
according to his riches in
glory by Christ Jesus.
Philippians 4:19

A good attitude toward life
begins with gratitude toward God.
Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth;
fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection,
evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry:
Colossians
3:5
*********
It’s not too late to plot a plan,
Do all the secret good you can,
Take young and old folk by surprise,
and scatter stardust in their eyes.
For you won’t know the joy of living,
until you share the thrill of giving.
Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him
give;
not grudgingly, or of necessity:
for God loveth a cheerful
giver.
2Corinthians 9:7

Sometimes we’re so busy adding up our troubles,
That we forget to count our blessings.
Count
Your Blessings
by Johnson Oatman, Jr.
1856-1922
When upon life’s billows you are tempest tossed,
When you are discouraged, thinking all is lost,
Count your many blessings, name them one by one,
And it will surprise you what the Lord hath done.
Refrain
Count your blessings, name them one by one,
Count your blessings, see what God hath done!
Count your blessings, name them one by one,
And it will surprise you what the Lord hath done.
Are you ever burdened with a load of care?
Does the cross seem heavy you are called to bear?
Count your many blessings, every doubt will fly,
And you will keep singing as the days go by.
Refrain
When you look at others with their lands and gold,
Think that Christ has promised you His wealth untold;
Count your many blessings. Wealth can never buy
Your reward in heaven, nor your home on high.
Refrain
So, amid the conflict whether great or small,
Do not be disheartened, God is over all;
Count your many blessings, angels will attend,
Help and comfort give you to your journey’s end.
Refrain

She's just a little sparrow,
A weakened vessel made of clay;
Yearning for the day break,
When the shadows will flee away.
Looking for the Sun of Righteousness
To arise with healing in His wings.
As the Saviour waits with open arms,
This little sparrow begins to sing.
Her Heavenly Father numbers each little hair;
Not one of them can come to lasting harm.
Not a sparrow can fall apart from His will -
She is safely resting in His everlasting arms.
Precious in the sight of the Lord
Is the death of one of His own.
Her Father waits to receive His child -
Into the loving arms of Jesus she has flown.
Now she is flying near God's Heavenly altar,
Forever to worship before His throne;
Dwelling in the Lord's presence -
This little sparrow has flown home.

Poem dedicated to Carol Trenholm who loved Jerry's poetry.

One of Carol's Favorite Poems
It was originally written for another Christian lady who also died of cancer.

I’ve gone home to see my Father,
I’ve gone home, so don’t you cry
I’ll be waiting for you in Heaven,
In my mansion prepared on high.
No more sickness, no more sorrow,
No more pain, and no more grief.
I’ve gone home to be with Jesus
Though my sojourn here was brief.
I’ve gone home to live in Heaven
With all the blessed saints of old,
Here with Abraham and David
To stroll through streets of gold.
I’ve gone home to be in Heaven
Where there’s no sadness, and no night.
There is joy and peace unending,
In this blissful land of light.
But there’s something else more beautiful,
So precious, beyond this crystal sea,
As I wander through realms of glory
I find my Saviour walks with me.
I’ve gone home to be in Heaven,
Though you miss me, and tears abound,
Just keep believing in God’s promises,
And listening for that trumpet sound.
Because one day in God’s timing
When the Lord calls out your name
Look to the skies in awe and wonder -
We’ll see each other again.
