My Saviour Living In Me

I stood before the Judge, now it was my turn
To give account to Him, how my heart did churn.
I had no words to plead in my own defense.
Condemned, I knelt for the reading of my offense.
Yet, one Man stood up, dressed in clothes so white,
My Advocate, Jesus, had made all things right.

Jesus was born to die on Calvary,
Born to die, for you and for me.
Born to die, but not in vain;
Though I was condemned, He bore my shame.

He died for me on Calvary,
To pay my sins and set me free.
What a friend! He paid it all!
Not a mite was ever too small.
He took my sin debt, all that I owed,
Laid them on Himself, bore them as His own.

He gave His life, His all He did give.
That I would not die, but that I could live.
When Jesus arose on that glorious day,
I knew, by faith, my sins were all washed away.
How could I not then, on the altar, lay down my all?
The most I can give in return still seems ever so small.

As if all He had done had not been enough,
He still has not left me to struggle alone.
To plod through life, though it may seem so tough
The light of His countenance on me has shone.
His precious Holy Word, my guide to be,
To lighten my footsteps on His pathway for me.

Yet more blessings has He given His child so frail;
His Holy Spirit to comfort, that my footsteps won't fail.
When the storms of life round about me do roll,
I've nothing to fear, for in Him I am whole.

I have all I need to fight the good fight;
To conquer in the day and endure through the night.
Saved unto good works was part of His plan;
Not for salvation - to redeem fallen man,
But to be a living epistle for all to see,
My Lord Jesus Christ, my Saviour, living in me.
