I was asked a question today -
Alma, are you afraid to die?
Why no, I answered quite frankly,
And then I asked myself why.
There are several answers to this question:
Number one, I know where I'll be;
My body may be in this earth,
But my soul will be in heaven, eternally.
For you see, I've trusted Christ as my Savior,
He's the Rock on whom I depend.
Together, we'll walk on those streets of gold,
I'll have a new life of joy that never ends.
I have two people who'll greet me
As I enter those big pearly gates:
A father who on earth loved me dearly,
And a sister, oh I barely can wait.
There'll be no crying in heaven,
No more pain, oh won't that be great.
And my loved ones who've gone on before me,
Why, they are waiting just inside the gates.
We'll have a family reunion
As they guide me throughout this new land,
And the angels, they will be singing,
As I place my hand in his "nail-scarred" hand.
I will bow on my knees and cry, "Holy"
As I meet my one and only King,
The one who gave His life for me,
I will burst with joy as His praises I sing.
I don't think I'll ask any whys
As to the problems we face here on earth,
For just to see Him in His glory
Makes any trial well the worth.
So you see, I have all this to look forward to,
And I have Jesus Christ to thank.
No, I'm not afraid to die;
I'll be with my Savior in heaven on high.
